Description

Set in a wonderful elevated position overlooking the picturesque bay of Oban, Torridon offers an opportunity to acquire a substantial period granite and stone-built property sitting under a traditional slate roof.

Entrance to the property is via a private path that winds up through mature front gardens giving access to the front door of the house. A vestibule leads into a lovely central hallway. Upon entering the property, it is immediately apparent that it has been sympathetically maintained over the years, with much care and attention given to retain many of the period features of the time, such as stained-glass doors and decorative ceiling roses.

A comfortable and spacious sitting room is located to the left, complete with ornate tiled fireplace and a large bay window which perfectly frames far reaching views. The dining room is located to the right of the hallway, again capitalising on the superb open aspect views across the bay of Oban.

To the rear of the property, a large kitchen has been designed and installed to be in keeping with the property, utilising a combination of bespoke wooden cabinets, complimented with granite worktops. A central island gives additional worktop space, while two windows flood the room with natural daylight.

Adjacent to the kitchen, a fully fitted utility room houses a variety of appliances and offers additional storage options. An entrance hall / boot room offers access to the side garden, and further to the parking at the rear of the property. A large cupboard in this room also houses a newly installed gas boiler. A separate WC completed the ground floor accommodation.

A marvellous wooden staircase leads from the central hallway to the upper floor, where a central 'courtyard' type landing gives access to 5 bedrooms and a fully fitted family bathroom with bath and shower.

The front facing bedrooms benefit from the breath-taking views, with large windows giving them a bright and airy feel. The master bedroom also benefits from a walk-in dressing room with wash facilities for added convenience. A separate WC is also located on the first floor.

The property has been used a family home in recent years but is equally suited to be operated as a Bed and Breakfast, offering buyers potential for secondary income. Early viewing is highly recommended.

Torridon is set in majestic elevated position and enjoys superb views across Oban bay and beyond to the Isle of Mull. Mature gardens and trees surround the property offering a degree of privacy.

A pathway gives access around the property while a large garden shed provides storage for gardening essentials.

A path leads to the quiet road at the rear of the house, where there is on road parking for several vehicles.

To the front, a mature garden flows down to the road below, with a winding path giving access to the house from the lower gate.

Location

Torridon is conveniently located just a ten-minute walk from Oban town centre. Oban is a popular west coast town with a thriving local population. It is popular with tourists and offers a comprehensive range of local amenities including shops, restaurants, banks, cafes and bars.

Directions

Torridon is located in the vibrant and popular coastal town of Oban. From Oban centre follow Corran Esplanade to the roundabout where it meets the A85, signposted towards Crianlarich and Fort William. Follow the A85 for approximately 150 yards, before turning right onto Deanery Brae. After 50 yards cross the junction and continue along Dalriach Road past the Atlantis Sports Centre. Turn left onto Dalriach Park Terrace and bear right onto Ardconnel Road. Follow the road to the first junction (3 way) and turn left up the steep hill. Follow this for about 100 yards to the first left (opposite the McCaigs Tower car park) signposted Duncraggan Road. Continue on this road until it goes downhill where Torridon is the second house on the left. A TORRIDON sign is on the right-hand back wall.
