Location

The subjects are in an enviable position set back from the B844 on the outskirts of the village of Balvicar, in a superb location enjoying lovely views across the golf course and Balvicar Bay, which has its own small commercial boat yard and yacht moorings.

Balvicar lies on the Isle of Seil, some 14 miles south of the major West Coast town of Oban. The whole area is one of natural beauty and is perfect for sailors and golfers – and for those who just enjoy peace and quiet. The island is easily accessible being connected to the mainland by the famous 'Bridge over the Atlantic'. The bridge is approximately two miles from Balvicar at the village of Clachan Seil where there is a pub, the 'Tigh an Truish', and a petrol station and shop. Balvicar itself has an active community and a well-stocked licensed grocery shop, a medical centre, a church and a post office. Two miles to the south is the village of Ellenabeich where there are several small shops, a bar and restaurant, village hall and well-respected primary school.

Further services are available in Oban, an expanding port with an attractive sea front and busy harbour, well known as the main Caledonian MacBrayne terminal and gateway to the isles. The town offers a full range of shopping facilities as well as banks and professional offices. There are a number of primary schools, a hospital, a leisure centre and a high school. A school bus service operates from Balvicar to the high school
