Dunkeld is a thriving village with Post Office, bank, delicatessen, butchers, small supermarket, newsagent, doctor's surgery, primary school and the famous Dunkeld Cathedral situated on the north bank of the River Tay. The Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel lies on the edge of the village offering recreational activities to members. In addition, Dunkeld has its own railway station with regular services to the north and south.

The city of Perth, lying some 14 miles to the south, offers more extensive facilities including national retailers, cinema, theatre, concert hall and both railway and bus stations. Dundee lies approximately 39 miles to the east and provides two universities, shopping centres, Olympia swimming pool and an airport with regular services to London Stansted.
