Lot 2 Land at Shielhill
The farmland at Shielhill extends in total to 23.93 hectares (59.13 acres) of which 23.83 hectares (58.88 acres) is IACS registered and mainly of arable quality. The remaining land area comprises rough areas. The land is classified by the James Hutton Institute as predominantly Class 3.2, this indicates the land is capable of producing a moderate range of crops including high yields of barley, oats and grass. The land ranges in altitude from 35 to 40 metres above sea level with a mainly slight south westerly aspect. Slopes are gentle allowing easy field working. The land in the arable fields is now combined into two large parcels either side of the public road. The pond and rough land is at the southern corner of field 1.
The field shapes allow easy field working. Field boundaries are mainly post and wire fences of mainly good condition with some boundaries double fenced with hedges in between.
