Kingsbank is located in the popular historic village of Scotlandwell, to the east of Loch Leven. Although originally given its name by the Romans, the village had a hospital located there between 1250 and 1587 with thousands of pilgrims visiting the village to partake of the curative waters found there. History has it that King Robert the Bruce was cured of leprosy having taken the waters. Still remaining in the village are The Well and the Wash House which date from about 1858.
Scotlandwell is close to the shores of Loch Leven, Scotland's largest lowland loch and the centrepiece of Loch Leven Nature Reserve and the Heritage Trail. It is home to a huge variety of wildlife and plant species. Loch Leven Castle also has a rich history with Mary, Queen of Scots being imprisoned there in 1567.
Within the village is the popular Well Country Inn and not far away is Lochend Farm Shop with fresh produce, a Deli and a lovely café for afternoon tea. Towards the other end of the Loch is Loch Leves Larder, a popular destination for sharing food with family and friends and a stopping point for those on the Heritage Trail.
Close by is Kinross, an attractive country town which offers a wide range of local facilities including shops, professional services, restaurants, several hotels, a supermarket and two golf courses.
Portmoak Primary School in the nearby village of Kinnesswood is the local school for Scotlandwell and secondary education is at the well-respected High School in Kinross. Private schools within easy reach include Dollar Academy, Glenalmond, Strathallan, Craigclowan, Kilgraston and St Leonards.
Scotlandwell is ideally located with easy access back to the M90 for links to Edinburgh and Perth and there is a Park and Ride service at Kinross with regular express coach services to Edinburgh and Perth. There is a train station at Inverkeithing with services into both Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley, as well as a further Park and Ride service.
