Oban is the principal town of North Argyll serving a large ruralarea of the Highlands and Islands. The town is a main ferryport and railway terminal with a large number of daily ferrysailings to a variety of Inner and Outer Hebridean islands andwith regular train services to Glasgow via the famous West Highland line. The town is a very popular tourist destinationin its own right throughout the year however particularly in thesummer months.
