RSABI needs your help. We would like you to sign up to our Supporter Scheme from just £2 a month. By signing up you’ll make a huge difference to the lives of people in Scottish agriculture who need our support.
We’ve had to cancel our Great Glen Challenge fundraising event, which last year brought in £53,000 thanks to the fundraising efforts of the teams involved.
To help fill the gap in expected income, we’ve launched the #RSABI500 campaign to encourage 500 new people and businesses to sign up to our Supporter Scheme.
Our helpline team has completed over 1,000 calls since April this year. With Brexit and economic uncertainties on the horizon we expect demand for our services to increase.
Many of our clients have had an unforeseen illness, mental health issue or accident. For some people a combination of problems becomes too much – an illness on top of prolonged bad weather and poor milk prices, for example.
“RSABI took the worry away about how we could manage financially without my income, after being diagnosed with cancer. They made an amazing difference at the time that I needed it.” RSABI client.
We offer people comprehensive and confidential support that helps them get through difficult times and move forward. And we’re the only service that specifically supports people in Scottish agriculture.
Emotional support is available through our helpline, case officers and volunteers – all of whom are mental health first aid trained. Our helpline is open every day of the year and we also offer a call out service to people feeling lonely or experiencing stress.
We can access practical support such as business reviews, debt signposting, counselling and mediation services. Our financial support can be monthly payments and/or single grants for essential items including food, heating, disability aids, funerals and retraining.
If you’re not already a Supporter, I’d be very grateful if you could consider joining and help us continue to meet demand for this vital support.
Individuals can sign up from just £2 a month, over a year this covers the cost of six helpline calls making a real difference to someone in Scottish agriculture who needs some support.
Business Support starts at £150 a year, and covers the average cost a case officer needs to help a farmer who due to illness or accident can’t work, making sure the farm can continue and the family isn’t struggling.
You can join as a Corporate Supporter from £500 a year, covering the cost of 10-12 counselling sessions for a farmer struggling with poor mental health.
